Happy New Year from CAPE!

Dear CAPE Members,

The Board of Directors and Staff of the California Association of Professional Employees wish you a very Happy New Year.

We know the last several months have been extremely challenging to our fellow CAPE members, as we have been in negotiations with Los Angeles County management and are currently at impasse at the salary tables.

We thank you for sticking with your union and supporting the Board, the Coalition of County Unions and your unit negotiating team members during these trying times.

Entering 2019 without a fair contract for CAPE members is not how we envisioned the year starting. But we are committed to fighting for your rights as public sector union members and as professionals serving the citizens of Los Angeles County.

Our work spans many departments and plays an important role in millions of lives each day. This is evident in the new workload and assignments many CAPE members, including those at Public Works, Regional Planning and the Assessor's Office, are receiving due to the devastating Woolsey Fire and the rebuilding of the neighborhoods impacted.

We know our worth. And every day, CAPE members demonstrate that on the job.

Stay tuned in 2019 for negotiations updates, as well as more planned actions to show the CEO and all management that we will not be divided and will fight for better wages and working conditions! We look forward to meeting with the state-appointed mediator, most likely in late January.

Again, we wish you a safe and Happy New Year.

In Solidarity,

The CAPE Board of Directors

Carlos Clayton, P.E., President
